  • What does it mean to say that Houston is a Certified "C" Coffee Exchange Port?

For every bag of coffee traded on the Intercontinental Exchange in New York, a physical bag must be kept in a certified coffee exchange warehouse. These warehouses are specially licensed, and only four ports in the United States are licensed to import Certified "C" Exchange Coffee.
Since Houston received its first bag of exchange coffee in 2005, we have quickly become the number two port of importation for exchange coffee in the United States, passing Miami and New York, and are now closing in on the Port of South Louisiana as the favored location to bring exchange coffee into the country.
